‘Come On Man, Fur On The Title?’ – WWE Hall Of Famer Reacts To Trick Williams’ New United States Title Design
WWE
A WWE Hall of Famer has reacted to Trick Williams’ brand new United States Championship design.
The Friday, July 10 episode of SmackDown gave fans several big talking points, with CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes officially set to do battle over the Undisputed WWE Title at SummerSlam, GUNTHER choking out General Manager Nick Aldis and Baron Corbin returning to WWE after a year and a half away.
While not quite as headline-grabbing, SmackDown also saw the United States Championship receive a re-design of sorts courtesy of Lil Yachty.
Given that Trick Williams has a penchant for wearing white fur coats, Yachty saw fit to see the US Title’s traditional leather strap replaced to match that same vibe, a redesign that, while fitting for Williams, did attract some criticism from fans online.
During the latest episode of Busted Open, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry was asked for his thoughts on the new US Title.
While he admitted it matches Williams’ style, the fur strap is something ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ could not get behind:
“I thought it fit him very well, the diamonds and fur, but man. Come on man. Fur on the title?”
“That’s what you get when you’ve got Lil Yachty handing him a title belt. I was like come on man, really? I was saying really to myself like I was The Miz… Not my favorite title of all time.”

Henry would then share his reaction to Baron Corbin’s return, which came during Williams’ match with Carmelo Hayes.
Revealing he had no idea his former Busted Open co-host was returning on the night, Henry said:
“Complete shock and awe. I didn’t see it coming.
“I’d heard rumblings that he was gonna come back at some point. I had no clue that was happening. And I love when something slips in and I don’t already know about it.”
“He really went after Trick Williams. Really put the foot to him, put the boots to him.”

United States Title Picture Blown Wide Open By Baron Corbin
Fans would have been forgiven for assuming that the United States Title picture would be pretty straight forward heading into SummerSlam on August 1 & 2.
With Ricky Saints soundly beaten by Trick Williams at Night of Champions, Carmelo Hayes and Trick’s non-title match on SmackDown appeared to be booked in order to give Melo a big win that would then justify them duking it out again for the gold at SummerSlam.
During the match however, Ricky Saints was shown watching on backstage two separate times, indicating that he is still on the hunt for the US Title, and then, in an even greater statement of intent, Baron Corbin showed back up in WWE for the first time in almost two years to lay out both Melo and Trick with a pair of End of Days’.
With Hayes, Saints and now Corbin on the chase, as well as other names like Ilja Dragunov potentially waiting in the wings to join the fun, SmackDown’s mid-card is shaping up to be an exciting thing to keep an eye on heading into ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer.’
