Serena and Venus Williams’ surprising doubles record at the US Open as they’re confirmed to play in this year’s event
Serena and Venus Williams are officially confirmed to be playing doubles together at the US Open this year after receiving a wildcard.
Earlier this year, Serena made her comeback to professional tennis after not playing since the 2022 US Open.
This included playing singles at Wimbledon, where Serena suffered a knee injury which meant that she was unable to reunite with Venus on the doubles court.
Serena and Venus did play at the Cincinnati Open recently, and now they will partner up again at the US Open, where they have a somewhat surprising record.

After their first round loss in 2022, Serena and Venus had only ever played with each other in the women’s doubles draw at the US Open.
However, this changed last year, when Venus played alongside Leylah Fernandez at the US Open.
Venus and Fernandez had a very successful tournament, knocking out two seeded teams to reach the quarter-finals.

This was the first time Venus had reached the quarter-finals of a women’s doubles tournament at a Grand Slam since winning the Wimbledon title with Serena in 2016.
Serena and Venus will be hoping for another deep run in New York this year, with the women’s doubles draw at the US Open getting underway on Thursday, September 3.
