The India National Cricket Team is set for a big review after disappointing overseas performances under Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. The BCCI has reportedly called an important meeting with the team’s top officials to discuss the recent results and decide the way forward.

Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar and BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) chief VVS Laxman will meet the board officials at the Mumbai headquarters on Thursday, September 3. The review is likely to be attended by the captains Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer.

Gautam Gambhir, Ajit Agarkar face BCCI Review; Shubman Gill-Shreyas Iyer likely to join

As reported by Times of India, the BCCI has called a review meeting in Mumbai on Thursday (September 3) with Gautam Gambhir, Ajit Agarkar and VVS Laxman. Amid this, Team India’s new fitness policy: 200% fitness required for selection.

India’s T20I captain Shreyas Iyer and ODI-Test captain Shubman Gill may also attend the meeting. The top brass is likely to discuss India’s recent performances and future plans in the meeting.

It is also being said that the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and President Mithun Manhas will also attend the review meeting on Thursday. The main focus will be India’s recent poor results, team planning and the roadmap for the upcoming games, keeping in mind the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup.

The review meeting was supposed to be held at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai after India’s T20I series losses in Ireland and England. But the review was delayed because of India’s recent two-match Test series in Sri Lanka. The BCCI has now decided to hold the meeting on September 3.

Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and Indian Team Management under huge pressure over overseas nightmare

The Indian captains Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer and the team management have been facing intense pressure after the reigning T20 World Cup champions suffered a 2-0 defeat in the two-match T20I series against Ireland in June.

Following the Ireland disaster, the Men in Blue were beaten 4-0 in the five-match T20I series, and then they also lost the three-match ODI series 2-1 in England in July. And now, India failed to win the Colombo Test, with Sri Lanka denying a whitewash by pulling off the draw in the final Test.

Bigger issues set to be discussed at the meeting

Apart from the Ireland and England tours, they will also discuss injury management, player fitness, selection and the team’s future plans at the BCCI review on Thursday. Earlier, Geoffrey Boycott called Ravindra Jadeja ‘very handsome’ and his ‘favourite cricketer’.

With India set for the big events and crucial New Zealand tours in the coming months, the BCCI wants better planning and coordination between the selectors, coaching staff and centre of excellence to make sure the team deliver their best in the big matches.
