With the likes of The Rock, Dave Bautista and John Cena becoming acting megastars, there seems to be a pipeline between WWE and Hollywood.
Several current WWE stars have also been filming for major movies, with some stars set to appear in multiple upcoming films.
Here are behind the scenes details on WWE stars’ upcoming movie roles.
Liv Morgan – Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo
Despite recently losing her WWE Women’s World Championship, Liv Morgan has a lot to celebrate, with the world premiere of Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo taking place tonight (September 14).
The film’s premiere screening will take place at the Toronto Film Festival, and stars Liv Morgan in a prominent role.
Distributor NEON describes the movie as following a disgraced Tokyo detective who “spirals into a world of corruption, addiction, and violence as he becomes entangled in a twister investigation involving a vengeful ex-Yakuza, an enigmatic FBI agent, and a missing daughter of a powerful American family.”
While previous reports indicated that the role is the type which could cement Morgan as the next “it girl” in Hollywood, Morgan has stated that she will wrestle “until the wheels fall off”, believing that she will be a pro-wrestling lifer.
Liv Morgan – Ping
“Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo” isn’t Liv Morgan’s only Hollywood outing, with the former Women’s World Champion recently cast in psychological thriller “Ping”.
Per Deadline – who announced Liv Morgan’s casting – the film will follow “an aspiring creative director who lands a remote dream job, but is forced to choose between her sanity and a boss she can never mute.”
Production for this movie is reportedly already underway, with Richie Gordon writing and directing.
Liv Morgan will star alongside Fivel Stewart, Savanah Moss and Carter Jenkins, as well as Megan Lawless, who was previously featured in Obsession.
Cody Rhodes – Street Fighter
Cody Rhodes will be one of several wrestlers featured in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, which will hit movie theaters on October 16.
Rhodes plays the role of Guile in the movie, which was directed by Kitao Sakurai, and penned by Sakurai and TJ Fixman.
The American Nightmare previously revealed that he got to try his hand at several stunt sequences which he hopes make the final cut of the movie.

Roman Reigns – Street Fighter
Roman Reigns also has a role in the new Street Fighter movie, with the OTC playing the role of Akuma.
The synopsis for Street Fighter reads:
“Street Fighters Ryu and Ken reunite when Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. As they face a hidden conspiracy, they must confront each other and their past-or face destruction.”
Roman Reigns filmed his role during his WWE absence after Clash In Paris in August 2025. At this show, Reigns defeated Bronson Reed, before Reed attacked the OTC to the point he was stretchered out of the arena.
Reigns returned to the ring at Crown Jewel that October, losing to Bronson Reed in an Australian Street Fight.
Joe Hendry – ReelShort micro drama
While technically not a feature film, Joe Hendry will be featured in an upcoming micro drama, basically high-production content designed to be watched on mobile devices.
WWE announced a partnership with ReelShort in July, which named Joe Hendry in addition to Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu as WWE stars who will be paired with “two well-known vertical actors” for upcoming projects.
Dave Meltzer and PWInsider both recently reported that Hendry has been filming for the live-action micro drama, meaning he will likely be the first WWE star we see pop up in a vertical series.
Drew McIntyre – Highlander
Drew McIntyre has been off WWE TV for almost five months, having last stepped into the ring at WrestleMania 42, against Jacob Fatu.
During McIntyre’s absence, he was in Scotland filming for his role in the upcoming Highlander reboot from John Wick director Chad Stahelski.
McIntyre plays the role of Angus MacLeod, the brother of protagonist Connor MacLeod, who will be played by Henry Cavill.
Other stars confirmed for the Amazon MGM Studios picture include Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan and former WWE Champion Dave Bautista.
Drew McIntyre – The Last Druid
More recently, Drew McIntyre was cast in “The Last Druid”, as was reported by Deadline in June.
Per Deadline, filming for that project got underway in June, with McIntyre starring alongside Russell Crowe and Russell’s son Tennyson Crowe.
The Last Druid will follow a Roman Emperor who “who discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia. A peaceful Celtic elder (Crowe) must take up arms to protect his family and people from annihilation.”
