Monica Monroe has commented after becoming the new WWE ID Women’s Champion, defeating Laynie Luck last night.

WWE crowned the first WWE ID Women’s Champion in August 2025, when Kylie Rae would win the title, with her later vacating the title due to stepping away from wrestling to go on maternity leave.

Laynie Luck won the vacant title on November 17, 2025, winning the title at Beyond Wrestling’s Wrestling Open event, defeating Airica Demia, Brittnie Brooks, Notorious Mimi, Tiara James and Shannon LeVangie in a six-woman elimination match to win the title and also earn a WWE ID contract.

Monica Monroe comments on WWE ID Women’s Championship victory

Laynie had reigned as the WWE ID Women’s Champion for over 300 days, which included frequently appearing on WWE EVOLVE, but her reign has now come to an end.

At last night’s Reality of Wrestling Rise of Wrestling Royalty event, Monica Monroe became the third WWE ID Women’s Champion when she dethroned Laynie Luck after 320 days with the title.

Taking to social media, Monica Monroe commented on her title win, saying:

#AndNew WWE ID Women’s Champion

Holy crap. We did it.

Now let’s go have some fun. I’ve got a 300+ day reign to beat.

Monica Monroe was trained and scouted by Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling, with Booker even accidentally giving her a shoutout on NXT, when he misspoke and referred to Blake Monroe as ‘Monica Monroe’ when hyping up an episode of the show.

The mixed results of WWE ID

When WWE announced the WWE ID program in 2024, many were concerned with WWE’s attempts to monopolise the independent wrestling scene, with WWE signing several stars they saw potential in primarily to keep them away from AEW.

The WWE ID system has been a mixed bag so far, as there have definitely been some success stories in regards to the program, with current NXT North American Champion Jackson Drake, NXT Tag Team Champions the Vanity Project, EK Prosper and Sean Legacy all being scouted and promoted to NXT through the system.

However, there are still many WWE ID stars yet to make the move up to NXT, with them spending most of their time on EVOLVE and on the independent circuit, with none of the initially scouted women’s WWE ID stars still with the company.
