World Aquatics World Cup #2 – Tashkent
Women’s 100 IM
GOLD – Marrit Steenbergen (NED) – 56.18
SILVER – Roos Vanotterdijk (BEL) – 56.68
BRONZE – Yu Yiting (CHN) – 57.57
Marrit Steenbergen delivered another stellar World Cup performance, winning a pair of events, setting herself up for multiple triple crown wins next week, and doing so in record-breaking fashion.
To cap off her double wins on night 1 in Tashkent, Steenbergen blasted a 56.18 100 IM, her 2nd event win in as many weeks at the World Cup, and took down her European Record from last December’s European Championships (56.26).
The top two finishers were the same in both races, as Steenbergen touched ahead of Belgium’s Roos Vanotterdijk to win in a European Record time.
Entering this meet, Steenbergen was already the 2nd-fastest performer in the event’s history, behind only World Record holder Gretchen Walsh (55.11). However, this now gives her a bit of breathing room over #3 performer Kate Douglass (56.34).
Steenbergen Splits Comparison:
| New ER (2026 World Cup) |
Former ER (2025 Euro SC Champs) |

| Free | 13.84 (56.18) | 13.93 (56.26) |
Walsh currently holds the top seven times in history in the 100 IM, though Steenbergen’s European record swim now ranks 8th, with her former time sitting 9th.
