Juan Carlos Ferrero’s consistent presence in the tennis media over the last year has been somewhat exhausting.

At first, it was intriguing to hear his insight, as someone with knowledge of the game unlike any other.

Not only that, but given he had just split with Carlos Alcaraz, ending their hugely successful seven-year partnership, learning more about that drama was tantalising.

However, we are now in October, and Juan Carlos Ferrero continues to emerge in the media, linking himself with jobs that aren’t available, and seemingly throwing shade on his former pupil.

This time is no different, with Jannik Sinner once again his target.

Juan Carlos Ferrero claims he could not turn down coaching Jannik Sinner

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS recently, Ferrero has once again been speaking about Alcaraz.

It seems like, despite having been removed from the tennis world for the best part of a year now, he has arguably never been so vocal and outspoken about it, with its top two players in particular.

Which player will Juan Carlos Ferrero coach next?

The Spaniard left Carlos Alcaraz’s team at the end of 2025…

Sinner has been linked with hiring Ferrero throughout 2026, although Brad Gilbert insisted there’s no chance it would happen.

Well, the coach himself has now added more fuel to the fire, whilst also theorising what the reaction would be like if he did make such a bold decision.

Ferrero claimed: “Sinner is a spectacular player. I think he has already shown that, when he is at his best, he is very difficult to beat. I know this well, having worked with Carlos.

“If it were to ever happen in the future, I have already said that I understand that people, especially the Spanish, might be upset, in the sense that they might see it as a kind of slight towards Carlos and what he is capable of achieving.”

He would not let that stop him though, as he continued: “At the end of the day, I think I am also trying to grow as a coach and, if an opportunity of this magnitude were to arise, I think people should understand that. I will not go against anyone, least of all Carlos, if it were to happen. I will never go against anyone, much less Carlos.

“But, whether the opportunity comes with Sinner or another player, it is inevitable that you will find yourself against someone. I hope people can understand that.”

Earlier this month, it was suggested that Darren Cahill could now stay with Sinner until Roland Garros in 2027. If this were the case, there would be no job for Ferrero to take.

It remains uncertain whether the legendary Australian coach will remain a part of this successful team for the new season.
