In recent weeks on WWE SmackDown, Nikki Bella has been in a rivalry with Paige following the Bella Twins’ betrayal of her at SummerSlam.
On top of the rivalry with Paige, Nikki has also taken interest in the WWE Women’s Championship currently held by Chelsea Green, with her set to defend the title against Nikki next week on SmackDown.
However, a recent new report may have thrown a spanner into any potential plans.
Backstage praise on Nikki Bella’s social media numbers
Per WrestleVotes, Nikki Bella has been drawing praise within the company as of late, with her social media numbers impressing week after week.
It was also noted that, due to this, they wouldn’t be surprised to see the company put a bigger spotlight on the Hall of Famer going forward.
Nikki initially returned to WWE in the Summer of 2025, where she was set to begin a rivalry with Liv Morgan heading into Evolution.
Plans for the rivalry and match fell through after Liv suffered an injury on Raw, which led to Nikki instead entering the Battle Royal on the show.
One final Championship run?
After turning heel on Stephanie Vaquer last year, Nikki Bella had numerous shots at the Women’s World Championship, which she was unsuccessful in.
Now, after once again turning heel, Nikki Bella is chasing glory as she looks to take the WWE Women’s Championship from Chelsea Green on SmackDown, with the two set to face off for the gold next week on SmackDown.
With WWE reportedly set to put a renewed focus on Nikki, could we see the WWE Hall of Famer win the title and have one final run similar to other legendary names in the past?
The Bella Twins continue to chase the white whale
WrestleMania 42 marked Paige’s first WWE match since 2017
Outside of Nikki becoming WWE Women’s Champion, there is still one goal that the Bella Twins themselves are yet to accomplish, that is reigning as Women’s Tag Team Champions.
It seemed as though Nikki and Brie were finally going to become champions at WrestleMania 42, but an injury to Nikki led to her being replaced by Paige, with Paige and Brie going on to win the titles.
Now that Brie and Paige’s run is over, Brie suffered an injury at SummerSlam, once again delaying a potential Tag Team Championship run.
When Brie is ready to return, now could finally be the time the Bella Twins get their Tag Team Championship reign.
