Alex Eala will be playing both singles and doubles at the Tokyo Open this year.

Eala is making her debut at the Tokyo Open, which is her penultimate tournament of what has been a very successful 2026 season.

As she looks to finish her season on a high, Eala had already learnt her singles draw, with a potential rematch against Diana Shnaider in the quarter-finals, having recently been beaten by her in Ningbo.

It has also been confirmed that Eala will compete in the doubles draw in Tokyo, alongside a player she has never played with before.

Which Grand Slam event is Alexandra Eala most likely to win? 🤔

Alex Eala will play doubles with Desirae Krawczyk at the Tokyo Open

Eala will play alongside American Desirae Krawczyk for the first time in the doubles tournament at the Tokyo Open this year.

Krawczyk is a doubles specialist, and has won four Grand Slam mixed doubles titles in her career, as well as reaching one final in women’s doubles.

Although they are playing doubles together for the first time in Tokyo, there is already a connection between Eala and Krawczyk, as the latter also has Filipino roots through her mother’s side.

Eala and Krawczyk will likely be well supported in Tokyo, and in the first round they will play against the team of Miyu Kato and Hao-Ching Chan.

If Eala and Krawczyk are able to win their opener, they could face top seeds Luisa Stefani and Gabriela Dabrowski, who have won the title at their last three tournaments.

Alex Eala’s doubles record in 2026

While this is Eala’s first time playing doubles with Krawczyk, she has competed in multiple doubles tournaments this year.

These have produced mixed results for Eala, whose best results came alongside Iva Jovic and Janice Tjen, who she reached the semi-finals of the ASB Classic and Abu Dhabi Open with, respectively.

However, overall Eala has only won five of the 16 doubles matches she has played this year, and is currently on a five-match losing streak in doubles.
