While this year has given us the return of previously absent stars such as Britt Baker and Private Party, there are still a number of names on the roster who have been AWOL from AEW programming for some time.
Whether they’ve been gone due to injury or creative reasons, we could soon be seeing some of these stars return, and when they do come back we could be seeing them with an all new character.
Here are three AEW stars that could be repackaged upon their return:
Buddy Matthews
Buddy Matthews has been in the news this week after he was pulled from Australian promotion World Series Wrestling’s MegaMania Tour between October 29 – November 2.
The reason given was “scheduling conflicts” which of course has led to speculation that he could be nearing a return to AEW very soon.
AEW will be hosting Dynamite & Collision: Fright Night on October 28 in St. Louis, so we may very well see Matthews make his first appearance since suffering a serious ankle injury back in March 2025.
With Matthews’ former stablemates Brody King and Julia Hart forming new alliances in Matthews’ absence, we could see AEW give Matthews an entirely fresh start, complete with a different presentation.
Private Party
As mentioned in the intro, Private Party did make a rather unexpected return to AEW TV after over a year away back in February. Sadly however, Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen’s return was short-lived, as injuries took them both out just one month later.
We haven’t seen or really heard much from Zay and Quen since, so it’s hard to predict when they could re-emerge on AEW programming.
AEW Dynamite: Fright Night does have some significance to the pair however, with that same event being when they finally captured the AEW World Tag Team Titles back in February 2024.
While it may not come during tonight’s Dynamite, Private Party returning with a new edge – perhaps as a part of a returning Hurt Syndicate – would be a great way for AEW to re-introduce them.
Kamille
Like Private Party, Kamille is another AEW star that had a blink and you’ll miss it return to the company in 2026.
“The Brickhouse” returned back in April to target the then AEW TBS Champion Willow Nightingale, but vanished again as soon as she lost her title opportunity.
Kamille’s entire AEW run has been a head-scratcher, with the former NWA World Women’s Champion being absent for far longer than she’s been on TV since becoming All Elite back in 2024.
While AEW now has several physically imposing female stars, such as Megan Bayne and Lena Kross, Kamille could still carve out a spot for herself in the company if she was to return. Rather than playing the same role however, AEW could retool her character to separate her from the aforementioned Divine Dominion.
