Alabama Lands 2028 Verbal From U.S. National Junior Teamer Denzo Senekal
NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has scored a new verbal commitment for the 2028-29 season and beyond from Denzo Senekal of Oviedo, Fla. Senekal, who is among the top recruits in this cohort, is a member of the 2026-27 U.S. National Junior Team in the 200 back.
He will join Jimmy Jacobs, Cooper Walkup and Owen Miklos in Tuscaloosa as a member of the Crimson Tide’s Class of 2032.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Alabama! First, I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity and guiding me throughout this journey. Thank you to my parents and sister for all their support and everything they have done for me. Thank you to Coach Joe for pushing me every day and helping me get to this point. Lastly, a special thank you to Coach Margo, Coach Ryan, and the rest of the coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. I’m excited for what’s ahead! Roll Tide!!”
Senekal, who trains year-round with Blue Dolfins, earned best times in all four of his events at Summer Nationals where he placed 20th in the 200m back and 23rd in both the 50m back and 100m back. He finished fourth in the 200 back and seventh in the 500 free at Juniors East last winter before going on to record six top-6 finishes at Florida Short Course Seniors, highlighted by a runner-up showing in the 100 free.
His best times include:
- 50 back – 23.03
- 100 back – 49.21
- 200 back – 1:44.05
- 100 free – 45.75
- 200 free – 1:38.15
- 500 free – 4:23.67
Currently a junior at Winter Park High School, Senekal finished sixth in both the 200 free and 500 free at the 2025 Florida 4A State Championships.
Alabama placed sixth at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships. Senekal’s best time in the 200 back would’ve scored in the C-final at last year’s conference meet.
