Iva Jovic’s sensational 2026 season is over.

Although we are just weeks away from the natural conclusion of the tennis campaign, the American saw fit to call time early, having most recently suffered a quarter-final loss to Diana Shnaider in the Ningbo Open.

She subsequently withdrew from her next event in Tokyo, and now, following this statement, it seems she will play no more part in this year.

Jovic still holds an alternate position for the WTA Finals, but it seems like she might be uninterested in playing back-up at this event. She will have grand aspirations of being a part of its main roster next year.

Based on the boldness of her statement, it’d be unwise to bet against her.

Iva Jovic ends her 2026 season early with heartfelt message

Taking to Instagram, she began by admitting she struggled to find the words to describe this sensational campaign: “Been trying to wrap my head around this season and still haven’t quite been able to find the words.”

Alas, she swiftly did, writing: “Immensely proud of the work that has been put in and all the people around me pushing me to improve but also helping me keep the simple joy of playing tennis and competing. This season especially has been far from easy but incredibly rewarding at the same time. Amazing wins, heartbreaking losses, sleepless nights, tears, joy, and everything in between.”

Iva Jovic then went on to explain how the hardships suffered have shaped her into the player she is, and how it does not take perfection to succeed: “Let this be a reminder that you don’t have to be perfect or have it all figured out. I really believe showing up for yourself every day can take you to places you never imagined you can go (that includes you who are reading this btw).

“Thank you to my team, sponsors, fans, and everyone who has been by my side through the thick and thin, you know who you are. It takes a village.”

She finished with a promise for the new campaign: “Much MUCH more to come on court next year, the work has only just begun but for now… GET SOME REST EVERYONEEE.”

Iva Jovic’s 2026 Grand Slam season

Jovic’s 2026 Grand Slam season got off to a sensational start, as she enjoyed her best-ever run at a Grand Slam.

She had yet to drop a set before losing to eventual finalist Aryna Sabalenka, and did beat the seeded Jasmine Paolini en route to the quarter-finals.

Which of these four WTA players do you think is most likely to win a Grand Slam in 2027?

She followed that up with another strong showing in Paris, beating Alex Eala and Emma Navarro before losing an enthralling three-set clash with Naomi Osaka.

Wimbledon marked another career-first, reaching the fourth round.

She lost to Jessica Pegula, and was later beaten by Coco Gauff at the US Open, but not before partaking in one of the best Grand Slam matches of the season against Eala.

All four of her major performances in 2026 represented the best of her career.
