During this year’s NJPW Super Junior Tag League, The Swirl became one of the breakout duos of the tournament.

Blake Christian and Lee Johnson adapted well to Japan and became fan favorites by the end of the tour.

With their cohesiveness as a unit and their stunning double team offense, it seems like The Swirl should be in line for a major push upon returning to All Elite Wrestling.

Here are some potential AEW future plans for The Swirl after NJPW Super Junior Tag League 2026.

Join forces with Nick Wayne

At AEW WrestleDream 2026, Nick Wayne defeated Chris Jericho for a second time.

Since then, Wayne has been bragging about his success against the legendary star and went on the same NJPW tour for the Super Jr. Tag League alongside The Swirl.

Considering his new gimmick, Wayne would fit very well next to Blake Christian and Lee Johnson.

With the success that The Swirl got in Japan, it would make sense to pair Wayne with this duo as a new faction on AEW TV.

Become newest members of the Don Callis Family

The Swirl have gelled as a tag team so well during the NJPW Super Junior Tag League 2026 tournament.

Meanwhile, Davis and Doyle of The Don Callis Family dominated and defeated The Young Bucks in an AEW World Tag Team Championship Eliminator on the October 21 edition of AEW Dynamite.

Now, Davis and Doyle will challenge The Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Full Gear 2026.

If they come up short, Don Callis might want to bring in a new duo to his faction like The Swirl to attempt to bring the gold back to his family.

Lethal Twist goes after the AEW World Trios Championships

At the end of 2025, The Swirl aligned themselves with Jay Lethal to form The Lethal Twist over in Ring of Honor.

At ROH Death Before Dishonor 2026, Lethal Twist defeated Dalton Castle and The Outrunners to win the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championships.

On the August 15 edition of AEW Collision, “Hangman” Adam Page and Brodido defeated Lethal Twist to retain the AEW World Trios Championships.

Now that Page and Brodido are enjoying their second reign, a reunited Lethal Twist could challenge them again for the titles.

Challenge The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championships

When making their way to New Japan Pro Wrestling, The Swirl made various comparisons from their style to that of The Young Bucks.

Showing off their fluid double team offense, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson proved themselves worthy of the comparison in the NJPW Super Junior Tag League tournament.

While they came up short in the tournament, The Swirl could use their success as motivation upon their return to AEW.

Challenging The Young Bucks, The Swirl could be just one win away from finally becoming AEW World Tag Team Championships sometime soon.
