NCAA veteran Adam Chaney showed his short-course prowess in Westmont, this time in meters. After a bad prelim start led to barely making the final in the 50 back, Chaney made the most of his second opportunity, winning the event by half a second out of lane 8. After the race, Chaney reflected that he actually thought he could go faster than his winning time, saying he had a lot to clean up heading into Beijing.
