At WWE SummerSlam in Minneapolis, Chad Gable finally captured his first singles championship of his career when he defeated Penta to win the Intercontinental Championship.
Since winning the title, Gable has gone on to have an incredible reign as champion, taking part in many TV classics against names like Dragon Lee, Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix.
With Gable defending against everyone that steps up to him, here are some names we could see be the one to dethrone him.
Ethan Page
Ever since he made the move to Raw from NXT following WrestleMania 42, Ethan Page has targeted the Intercontinental Championship, challenging Penta for the title several times.
In recent weeks, Page has been looking to once again enter the Intercontinental Championship picture, with he and Big Cass set to face Gable and Dragon Lee tonight on Raw.
If Page continues to pick up momentum, he could be the one to dethrone Gable.
Dragon Lee
It was recently reported that Dragon Lee had re-signed with WWE, with him signing a new five-year contract with the company ahead of it’s expiration at the end of the year.
Dragon Lee has become a more important part of WWE Raw in recent months solely due to his incredible ring work, which has included a number of matches for the Intercontinental Championship.
With Dragon Lee set to be part of the company for a long time, we could see WWE finally give him the ball and have him continue the ongoing run of workhorse champions.
Rey Mysterio
It was recently reported that there had been backstage chatter about Rey Mysterio potentially retiring from the ring in 2027.
Much like with AJ Styles a year prior, Rey Mysterio is still moving around as good as he ever has, with him having two recent incredible matches with Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship on Raw.
If Rey is indeed hanging up the boots and mask in 2027, time is running out for him to get one final run as champion of any kind, and him being the one to dethrone Gable for one final run as Intercontinental Champion would be a great moment that would make the fans in the arena explode if it happens.
As for Chad Gable, he has shown how valuable he is to the WWE roster with his title run, so once he loses the title, the company must continue his upwards trajectory.
