Last night in Westmont, Katharine Berkoff broke her first individual world record, shaving .02 off Regan Smith’s 25.23 mark in the 50 Back. After winning the event and earning herself a spot on USA’s Beijing Roster, Berkoff revealed that she’d had a good stint in training. Routinely swimming 22s in 50-yard backstrokes from a push in a racing suit, Berkoff was confident coming into this competition, and it showed last night.
