Madison, Wisconsin-area swim coach Carl Millholland pleaded not guilt on Thursday to child pornography charges.

Millholland, 73, is accused of five counts of possession of child pornography. He was arrested in August by the Monona Polic Department after an investigation.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on July 22, 2026, which showed that an electronic service provider had picked up signals of child pornography on a resident’s laptop.

Local police say they found over 75,000 photos and videos on an external hard drive found in Millholland’s home in Monona.

According to the Shorewood Hills police, Millholland is a master swim instructor for adult lessons and is the owner of Swim Faster Madison. His bond was set at $500 and terms of his releases included not accessing any file-sharing websites or having any contact with children unless supervised by a responsible adult.

The Shorewood Hills Pool also closed down temporarily due to the ties that the pool had with Millholland, and to search the facility for any additional electronic devices.

Village President Shabnam Lofi claimed Millhollard was not a coach for any youth programs with Shorewood Hills. The facility has since reopened.

His next court hearing is a pre-trial conference on January 15, 2027.
