Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Sierrah Broadbelt, a Cayman Islands national champion and World Juniors qualifier, has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Alabama beginning in the fall of 2027.
“I am so thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Alabama! I would like to thank my coaches, my family, friends and God for helping and supporting me along this ongoing journey. And a very special thank you to Coach Margo and Coach Carie at Alabama for this amazing opportunity. I am so honored to be a part of the Tide. ROLL TIDE ROLL ”
Broadbelt is from Grand Cayman but currently attends and swims for Mount Kelly, a boarding school in England. She has also represented Seven Mile Swimmers in the Cayman Islands and the Cayman Islands Aquatics Sports Association on the international stage, and she primarily specializes in free, back and fly.
At the 2026 Cayman Islands National Championships (SCM) in February, Broadbelt turned in a smashing performance, claiming the national title in every single one of her events. She prevailed in the 100 free (56.40 – PB), 200 free (2:04.93), 50 back (29.17), 100 back (1:02.90), 200 back (2:14.60 – PB), 50 fly (27.40) and 100 fly (1:01.46). She also helped her team to victory in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay and 400 medley relay.
Broadbelt turned in another series of top performances at the 2026 Edinburgh International meet (LCM) in February, earning a second swim in four events. She placed 17th in the 50 back (29.86 – PB), 18th in the 200 back (2:21.51 – PB), 19th in the 100 back (1:04.39 – PB) and 24th in the 100 fly (1:05.29). She also contested the 50 fly (28.54) and 200 free (2:07.32).
At the 2026 Commonwealth Games (LCM) in Glasgow, Broadbelt posted a string of strong performances. She earned a second swim in the 100 fly, finishing 16th in the semifinals in a time of 1:02.42, and she contested the 50 back (30.00), 100 back (1:04.92), 200 back (2:22.57) and 50 fly (28.72).
Broadbelt competed at the 2025 World Junior Championships (LCM) a year ago, where she contested the 50 free (27.56), 50 back (30.91), 100 back (1:06.74), 100 fly (1:03.90) and 200 fly (2:23.30).
Best Times SCM/LCM (Fastest SCY Conversion):
- 100 back – 1:01.54/1:04.39 (54.26)
- 200 back – 2:14.60/2:21.51 (1:58.74)
- 100 fly – 1:00.46/1:02.11 (54.46)
- 200 fly – 2:14.27/2:16.69 (2:00.62)
- 100 free – 56.40/58.72 (50.81)
- 200 free – 2:03.85/2:07.32 (1:51.57)
A Division I program in the Southeastern Conference, the Alabama women took 4th at last season’s conference championships before sending six athletes to compete at the NCAA Division I Championships in March, where they finished 11th overall. To earn a second swim at the 2026 SEC Championships, it took times of 53.78/1:56.82 in the 100/200 back, 53.15/1:59.67 in the 100/200 fly and 49.08/1:46.80 in the 100/200 free, putting Broadbelt outside the cutoff in each of her top events based on her projected SCY times.
On the team itself, Broadbelt’s converted times would have ranked her 4th in the 100 back, 5th in the 200 back and 200 fly and 6th in the 100 fly last season, putting her in a position to bring added depth to Alabama when she joins the roster next fall.
Broadbelt is currently set to be joined in Tuscaloosa by fellow recruits Malia Groen, Wilma Hultberg Kullberg, Camryn Siegers, Faith Gorey and Emma Young, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
