DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men’s Swimming and Diving claimed victory over TCU with a final score of 202-92 on Wednesday at Robson and Lindley Aquatics Center.
The Mustangs had first place finished in 14 out of 16 events to win it’s fifth dual meet of the season.
Tate Bacon moved up to fifth in the SMU Top Performers list in the 100 fly, with a time of 46.83. The senior beat his previous record by 21 seconds.
Andy Baklanov, Francis Brennan and Luke Sitz all earned multiple solo first place finishes for the Mustangs. Baklanov in the200 back and 400 IM, Brennan in the 200 free and 500 free, as well as Sitz on 1 mtr and 3 mtr.
SMU swept the relay events, touching the wall at 1:26.04 in the 200 medley relay and 1:18.69 in the 200 free relay.

200 medley relay:
To start things off for the Mustangs, Thad Austin, Trey Clervi, Tate Bacon and George Gonzalez finished first with a time of 1:26.04. SMU swept the podium with the B relay finishing in second and C relay finishing third.
1000 freestyle:
Aubrey Jaya and Leo Pelaez finished back to back in second and third with times of 9:11.53 and 9:18.23, respectively.
200 freestyle:
Sophomore Francis Brennan finished first, touching the wall at 1:34.29. Maks Minichowski, with a time of 1:36.52, finished second. Jack Moore finished fourth with a time of 1:39.14.
100 backstroke:
All-American Jack Berube finished first with a time of 46.59. Austin and Josh Heydt finished out the podium with times of 47.70 and 49.89, respectively.
100 breaststroke:
Kristaps Mikelsons touched the wall at 54.02, finishing first. To finish out the top-3, Trey Clervi finished at 54.43 and Andy Baklanov finished at 55.49.
200 butterfly:
Ben Longeway finished fourth with a time of 1:49.69. Mark Heffern finished fifth (1:49.82) and Stanton Zwygart finished seventh (1:57.17).
50 freestyle:
A top-3 sweep for the Mustangs, with George Gonzalez touching the wall first at 19.92. Tate Bacon finished at 19.93 and Eli Likins finished at 20.39.
3 mtr diving:
Luke Sitz finished first with a score of 427.20. RJ Snyder finished third (333.30) and Michael Evans finished fifth (279.53).
100 freestyle:
With a time of 43.93, Maks Minichowski finished first. Sweeping the podium, George Gonzalez touched the wall at 43.95 and Eli Likins finished with a time of 44.20.
200 backstroke:
Andy Baklanov threw down a time of 1:45.64 to finish first. Asher Good came not too far behind in second with a time of 1:48.58. Ethan Hammontree finished fourth with a time of 1:50.16.
200 breaststroke:
Joe Umhofer touched the wall first at 1:59.25. Rounding out the top-3, Roberto Bonilla Flores finished second (2:01.17) and Braden Guzman finished third (2:01.56).
500 freestyle:
With a first place finish for the second time today, Brennan finished with a time of 4:19.02. Mark Van Eybergen touched the wall second at 4:27.53, followed by Aubrey Jaya in third with a time of 4:28.19.
100 butterfly:
Moving up to fifth in the event for SMU, Bacon clinched first with a time of 46.83.
1 mtr Diving:
Luke Sitz brings out the brooms again with a score of 359.40 to place first.
400 IM:
Andy Baklanov touched the wall first with a time of 3:51.04.
200 free relay:
Gonzalez, Likins, Bacon and Minichowski combined for a time of 1:18.69, finishing first in the final event of the meet.
