AEW Star Chris Jericho Addresses Fans Who Dislike Him & Whether He Believes They Will Change Their Minds

AEW star Chris Jericho believes that fans who dislike him may change their mind when he makes a monumental career change.
With a thirty-five-year career to date, Chris Jericho has seen pretty much everything that the wrestling world has to offer, with the fans on that journey with him, through love and hate.
Speaking to Fox News, the AEW star shared his belief that some fans dislike him because he’s still doing what he does, and it may be something they reflect upon after he no longer features as an on-screen talent, saying:
“I think a lot of the people that you mentioned, social media wise, that don’t like me just because I’m still doing this will realize, ‘Hey, we had something pretty cool there, we should have been watching a little bit more,’ because all I ever do is give my best 1,000% for whatever situation I’m in to make it better, to make my opponent better, to make me better, to make the company better, to make the show better, and I’m very proud of all the work that I’ve done.”
It’s his love for what he does that still sees Jericho engage, not just in AEW but beyond, with the star being heard as the narrator on the current season of Vice’s Dark Side of the Ring, among other projects, explaining:
“That’s why I still do it, that’s why I still love wrestling and making documentaries involving wrestling, per se, because I think it’s such a wonderful sport that really does tie the world together, wonderful form of entertainment.
“I live my dream doing something that I always wanted to do, and here I’m doing it almost longer than anybody else at a high level. I think that’s something to be proud of.”
With AEW Redemption taking place on July 26, this week’s episode of Dynamite saw Jericho bring back his “Painmaker” persona, issuing an open challenge that would be accepted by Tommaso Ciampa.
Ciampa last faced Jericho on the Beach Break episode of Dynamite, scoring a victory over the former AEW World Champion.

Having signed with AEW in early 2019, Chris Jericho has been a fundamental part of programming since the first-ever Double or Nothing, with the Young Bucks describing the star as “our Hulk Hogan“.
The comparison to the late WWE legend as an on-screen star is an obvious one. For decades, Jericho has been a top star in many of the companies that have been graced with his presence, with the fans reacting to his varied roles with a range of emotions, positive and negative, depending on where he is and what he’s doing at the time.
Arguably, in AEW, being associated with Chris Jericho has proved a worthwhile venture for a number of stars, including Sammy Guevara and MJF, although their success was likely guaranteed without that association. Being in the orbit of a veteran the caliber of Jericho, however, comes with additional benefits, offering an opportunity to work with a star who has been a fixture on television as far back as WCW and enjoyed an international career at the top level, elevating any particular name, regardless of how strong they are as a performer.
A bold character, loud and abrasive, Jericho has evolved with each passing generation, finding new ways to connect with the audience, sharing such advice along that theme to young wrestlers seeking their own stardom. There’s little doubt that the fifty-five-year-old star will abandon that mindset, even if some of the same fans will dismiss whatever comes next for the storied veteran.
