Alex Eala will no longer be playing doubles at the Tokyo Open this year.
Eala is making her debut in Tokyo, where she is the eighth seed and will play her first round singles match against British player Mika Stojsavljevic.
As well as playing singles, Eala was also set to play doubles with Desirae Krawczyk, the multiple-time Grand Slam mixed doubles champion who she had never played alongside before.
Many tennis fans were excited about the potential of Eala and Krawczyk, who also has Filipino heritage, playing together, but that will no longer be the case.

Alex Eala out of doubles in Tokyo after Desirae Krawczyk withdraws with injury
Last week, Eala played at the Ningbo Open, where she lost in the second round of the singles tournament to Diana Shnaider.
Krawczyk was also competing in Ningbo in the doubles draw, where alongside her partner Fanny Stollar she went on to win her 14th WTA Tour title.
Following this victory in Ningbo, it has now been confirmed that Krawczyk and Eala have withdrawn from playing doubles together in Tokyo, with the former citing a back injury as the reason for this withdrawal.
Krawczyk and Eala have now been replaced in the doubles draw by the alternate pairing of Yulia Putintseva and former Tokyo Open singles champion Liudmila Samsonova, who will fill their place to play against Miyu Kato and Hao-Ching Chan.
Eala will still play singles at the Tokyo Open, with her first round match against Stojsavljevic taking place on Monday, October 26 in the Japanese capital.
This is the penultimate tournament of the year for Eala, who has enjoyed a breakout season after winning her first WTA title in Washington D.C., reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon and breaking into the top 20.
