An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is closing on an imminent departure from the club. The Blaugrana talent in question? Álvaro Cortés.
The name of stopper Cortés has emerged as an altogether prominent one in the media chatter in Catalunya’s capital across the week to date.
After word was forthcoming that the Barcelona brass have made the call to seek out fresh blood at the back ahead of the close of the transfer window, the young Spaniard quickly made known his intention to move on in search of senior football.
Deco and co, in turn, informed any and all interested parties that offers were being welcomed for Cortés at the Spotify Camp Nou.
And as alluded to above, on Thursday, one such offer appears to have proven sufficient to convince the Barca hierarchy of the merits of an immediate sale. As per a report from transfer journalist Matteo Moretto:
‘Álvaro Cortés is one step away from joining Royal Antwerp. Departure imminent.’
