Mikel Amondarain signs for Bologna in a transfer from Estudiantes (bolognafc.it)
Bologna have officially signed midfielder Mikel Amondarain from Estudiantes in a deal believed to be worth €9m plus bonuses and a cut of the future sale fee.
The 21-year-old flew in last night for his medical tests and passed without issues, so was able to put pen to paper today on the contract.
It holds him to the Stadio Dall’Ara side until June 2031.
Amondarain new face for Bologna
There are multiple reports the cost of the operation is €9m plus performance-related bonuses, while Estudiantes are also owed a 10 per cent cut of the future sale fee.
Amondarain becomes the 17th Argentine to play for Bologna, with one who has just left, as Santiago Castro is undergoing his medical for a €35m plus add-ons move to Roma today.
The midfielder had also been heavily linked with a potential Premier League switch to Nottingham Forest, but he has chosen to begin his European career at Bologna in Serie A.
He scored four goals with three assists in 24 games for Estudiantes after coming up through their youth academy.
