Breaststroker Irelyn Kennedy Gives Mizzou First 2028 Verbal Commitment

NEW COMMIT: The University of Missouri has received its first public verbal commitment for the 2028-29 season and beyond from Irelyn Kennedy of West Sacramento, Calif. Kennedy is a Summer Nationals qualifier who excels in breaststroke.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Missouri! Thank you so much to my family for making me the person I am today. I also would like to thank Coach Billy, Coach Brian, and all my Dart teammates. To the amazing coaching staff at Mizzou, Coach Grevers, Sans, Alec, Kate, and Drayden, I am so incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to joining this great team. Go tigers!!! M-I-Z!!! 🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛”

Kennedy, who trains year-round with DART Swimming, raced four events at Nationals this past summer, earning a best time in the 50m breast (33.25). Last winter, she placed 23rd in the 200 breast at Juniors West before going on to earn bronze in that event as well as the 100 breast at Roseville Speedo Sectionals.

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 29.12
  • 100 breast – 1:02.18
  • 200 breast – 2:15.20
  • 200 IM – 2:09.86

Currently a junior at Davis Senior High School, Kennedy finished 18th in the 100 breast at the 2026 CIF State Championships after taking second in that event at the 2026 CIF San Joaquin Section Championships.

Missouri finished 10th at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships. Kennedy’s best time in the 200 breast would’ve ranked second on the Tigers’ roster last year, while her best 100 breast time would’ve been fourth.
