Six British tennis players have reached the final round of US Open qualifying
A record number of British players have made their way to the final round of qualifying in Flushing Meadows, according to the Lawn Tennis Association.
Those six individuals are Francesca Jones, Harriet Dart, Heather Watson, Jacob Fearnley, Toby Samuel, and Harry Wendelken.
Watson and her compatriots will contest their final rounds of qualifying later on Thursday.
Watson, perhaps the most notable figure of the six, will play fellow Briton Harriet Dart in the final round.
Jones is set to play Joanna Garland, who reached the final of the Australian Open’s ‘One Point Slam’ in January.
On the men’s side, Jacob Fearnley will play Jurij Rodionov and Toby Samuel will face off against former Wimbledon quarter-finalist Cristian Garin.
