Chelsea have completed the signing of experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson.
Henderson has penned a two-year deal at Stamford Bridge after leaving Brentford by mutual consent last week.
The 36-year-old has been recruited by new Blues boss Xabi Alonso to add some nous to a young dressing room and follows on from the signing of another veteran, former Brighton striker Danny Welbeck, over the weekend.
Henderson told the club’s official website: “Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn’t turn down.
“I was also so impressed with how much the ownership want Chelsea to be successful and move in the right direction.
“For me, it’s about giving everything every single day, both on and off the field, to help the players around me and the team as much as possible. I’m very excited to get going.”

Henderson started out at Sunderland before a big-money move to Liverpool in 2011. He made 492 appearances for the Merseyside club, taking over from Steven Gerrard as captain and lifting six major trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League.
A short, ill-advised move to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia was followed by a spell with Ajax before he joined Brentford.
Henderson has also made 91 appearances for England and was a member of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.
He played just six minutes at the tournament, though, featuring in the closing stages of England’s 2-0 Group L victory against Panama before breaking his arm in the celebrations that followed the win against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
