Coco Gauff will be hoping to bounce back from her recent US Open disappointment.
The American star played some of her best tennis to advance to the semi-finals before losing to eventual champion Elena Rybakina.
Gauff is now set to compete at the China Open and has received an automatic bye through to the second round.

With Gauff soon set to embark on her 2026 China Open campaign, let us take a look back at her previous results in the Chinese capital.
Coco Gauff’s full China Open record
Gauff reached the semi-finals on her China Open debut in 2023.
Hot off winning her first Grand Slam title at the US Open, Gauff defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova, Petra Martic, Viktoria Kudermetova and Maria Sakkari.
She was then defeated by Iga Swiatek in straight sets, 2-6, 3-6.
Gauff returned to the event with a vengeance in 2024.
The youngster marched through the draw with authority, defeating Clara Burel, Katie Boulter, Naomi Osaka, Yuliia Starodubtseva and Paula Badosa en route to the final.
Only Karolina Muchova, now a two-time Grand Slam finalist, stood between Gauff and the title.
Gauff refused to let the Czech star halt her progress, triumphing 6-1, 6-3 at China’s National Tennis Centre.

Last year, Gauff advanced to the semi-finals once again, beating Kamilla Rakhimova, Leylah Fernandez, Belinda Bencic and Eva Lys.
The American was defeated by Sara Bejlek in the last four.
What did Coco Gauff say after winning the 2024 China Open?
“I was super relaxed going in,” Gauff told reporters in Beijing following her 2024 triumph. “I was just like, I don’t know, this match is not going to change my life. When you go into matches like that, it’s super relaxed.
“I think also the experience of winning a 1000-level title in the past. Yeah, that tournament, it was great confidence. Again, it didn’t change my life.
I knew regardless of the result today, I was proud.
“Honestly, I was just telling myself the whole match I’m proud of myself, how I was able to overcome and still work on things that I’ve been practicing on, too, and stick to it.”
With victory in Beijing, Gauff became the first player in the Open Era to win all seven of their first hard court finals on the WTA Tour.
Who do you think will win the women’s singles title at the China Open this year?
“Yeah, that’s pretty cool, considering there’s been so many great players before me in the Open Era,” Gauff said of her record.
“Honestly, with the stat things, I feel like every tournament, it’s a new stat or new record. I’m very thankful. I would be excited to see when the next stat is, the next girl, I don’t know who, will be the first person to do this since Coco Gauff. I’m excited to see that, honestly.
“Especially honestly it means a lot when I saw that the last American woman to win this was Serena Williams. Honestly, anytime my name is mentioned in whatever sentence hers is, it’s like a huge honor to do something no one has ever done before. It is pretty cool. I didn’t know that was on the line.
“I don’t know if it would have affected my mentality today. That’s pretty cool. I hope somebody else breaks it. I think records are meant to be broken, honestly.”
As mentioned previously, Gauff will play Camila Osorio or Lanlana Tararudee in the 2026 China Open second round.
If Gauff emerges victorious from her second-round contest, she will play either 27th seed Cristina Bucsa, Eva Lys or Xinran Sun in the third round.
