College Swimming League Heads into Final Weekend; Championship to Be Determined
The final weekend of the inaugural College Swimming League (CSL) season is upon us, with the wildcard matchup scheduled for Thursday and the championship match slated for Friday. Competition will take place at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, the meets adding to the rich history of the legendary venue.
The wildcard match will take place on Thursday, with Cal, Stanford, Louisville and Indiana battling for the final spot in Friday’s championship. The wildcard match will begin at 5:30 p.m. (Eastern) and Indiana and Cal heading into action as the favorites, the Hoosiers coming off a regular season in which they compiled a 5-1 record and came up just shy of earning one of the three automatic berths to the championship.
Whichever program survives the wildcard round will earn the last spot in the championship match, where Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina State await. Virginia rolled through the regular season with an unbeaten 6-0 record and a CSL-high 1,247 points. Tennessee and North Carolina State each managed 5-1 records for the regular season and outscored Indiana to snare the last two automatic slots in the championship. The title match on Friday is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. (Eastern).
