It looks like Danhausen will step into the ring against GUNTHER again, but what comes next for both WWE SmackDown stars?

After being a thorn in GUNTHER’s side for the past few weeks, Danhausen found himself in a less-than-desirable position when he took up position in Nick Aldis’ chair on last night’s WWE SmackDown.

GUNTHER continued to demonstrate that he wasn’t a fan of Danhausen, grabbing the WWE star by the neck brace and making his feelings clear.

With Danhausen asking to be left alive for Halloween, GUNTHER promised to make the season a memorable one for the star, but what comes next?

The Halloween season for Danhausen

The Halloween weekend looks like a busy time for Danhausen and it now seems that he’s got an in-ring encounter to look forward to.

As recently revealed, Danhausen will be involved in Halloween Havoc, with the NXT PLE taking place on October 31 and the main roster star featuring on a recent graphic shared by Shawn Michaels on X.

All this came off the back of Robert Stone, the NXT general manager, finding a letter on his desk, warning that if Danhausen wasn’t made the host of Halloween Havoc, he would be cursed.

Following last night’s SmackDown, it now appears that the night before will see GUNTHER vs. Danhausen on SmackDown, potentially bringing an end to their “feud”.

How did we get here?

It wasn’t match interference or a match of any kind that got this started.

Danhausen has been circling GUNTHER since late August, with the Ring General being unimpressed by the ‘very nice, very evil’ star.

Last week saw GUNTHER demolish Danhausen, with Finn Balor coming to the star’s rescue on the October 9 episode of WWE SmackDown.

It was that episode of SmackDown that brought an end to the first GUNTHER vs. Danhausen match, with neither man being the victor.

With a rematch teased for October 30, the Balor feud is likely to continue beyond that.

GUNTHER vs. Finn Balor

To GUNTHER, Finn Balor’s “time has passed”, while his own future is very much championship-based, despite distractions from Danhausen and Balor.

GUNTHER last shared the ring with Balor on the September 25 episode of WWE SmackDown, with neither man qualifying for the Money in the Bank match over CM Punk.

For GUNTHER, a feud with Balor, without the presence of Danhausen, would continue to deliver when it comes to the quality of both stars, particularly if it can be held to a PLE.

Indeed, there’s an argument to be made that GUNTHER and Balor both feuding on the road to a WWE Championship match against Sami Zayn would be a good use of boths stars, with a Triple Threat payoff being a combination of ego, intensity and hard-hitting in-ring action.

Danhausen & Finn Balor

Finn Balor rescuing Danhausen on WWE SmackDown doesn’t necessarily suggest that the pair will be thrown together in the future, although there would be a certain appeal to bringing them together elsewhere.

While The Demon and Danhausen could make a striking image, Balor’s AAA run has seen him bring out the puppet Demonito, with the main roster star previously revealing the pitch made to The Undertaker.

Danhausen would be a solid fit for AAA, used in the right way, and with The Undertaker leading creative over in the Mexico-based promotion, there are plenty of ways to deliver on that opportunity.

The curse of Danhausen

Since his debut at Elimination Chamber in February of this year, Danhausen has corrected the ship when it comes to fan and critical reaction.

His Elimination Chamber debut arguably felt a bit flat, although the subsequent months have shown how entertaining the star can be with whoever he has been paired with.

He’s a regular fixture on screen, with limited televised matches in his WWE history, although he has been a fixture on the house show circuit this year.

It’s unlikely, as it should be, that coming out of the match with GUNTHER will suddenly see Danhausen compete every single week, with the star best used in the skits building to an eventual match.

The future for Danhausen

Regardless of the outcome of the match with GUNTHER, it would make sense for Danhausen to sell the aftermath as he did on SmackDown.

For GUNTHER, it has been a diversion in his quest to be a top champion, with the star having demonstrated he can carry that responsibily, being a two-time World Champion. If anything, the feud with Danhausen has given the star opportunity to show a different side to his persona, without taking away from the character he is.
