World Aquatics World Cup #3 – Astana

We’ve reached Day 2 of the final stop of the 2026 World Cup series in Astana, with another jam-packed finals session on tap.

The session will be bookended by timed finals of the women’s and men’s 400 freestyles, with the 50 free, 200 back, 200 breast, 100 fly and 100 IM also featured for both genders.

Of the 12 events being contested, Triple Crowns will be on the line in 10 of them, including two for Luke Barr.

Triple Crowns On The Line

It will be a crucial day in the race for the overall series title, especially on the men’s side with Egor Kornev holding a narrow 0.3-point advantage on Pieter Coetze after Day 1. Coetze is a massive favorite to complete the Triple Crown in the 200 back, while Kornev will be up against it as he takes on Cameron McEvoy in the 50 free.

On the women’s side, Marrit Steenbergen is in full control, and she could lock it up today with another victory in the 100 IM. Yu Yiting and Roos Vanotterdijk, who rank 2-3 in the series, will be Steenbergen’s biggest challengers in the 100 IM.
