A breakdown of the financial details of the transfer business carried out by La Liga giants Real Madrid this summer has come to the fore online.
This of course comes after a busy few months for those in a position of power in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu.
After first splashing out €15 million to bring José Mourinho back to Spain’s capital from Benfica, Florentino Pérez and co. quickly set about building a squad to the liking of the veteran Portuguese tactician.
These efforts ultimately culminated in six new first-team arrivals, broken down financially as follows:
- Bernardo Silva – Free
- Ibrahima Konaté – Free
- Marc Cucurella – €60m
- Denzel Dumfries – €20m
- Carlos Espí – €25m
- Yan Diomandé – €140m
Though Real Madrid’s first-team outgoings were not nearly as prominent, Los Merengues nevertheless managed to bring in a remarkable sum through a combination of sales, sell-on clauses and more.
All told, through deals for the likes of Nico Paz, Gonzalo García, Victor Muñoz and Chema Andrés, The Athletic estimate Real’s funds raised to have come in around the €190 million mark.
Taking into account expenditure (€245m) and income (€190m) through transfers alone, the Spanish heavyweights therefore shelled out an excess of just €55 million this summer.
