Former Australian swim coach Mark Sendecky has admitted to downloading more child abuse material, less than a month after being released on parole.
Sendecky, 42, was one of four men charged with involvement in the distribution of child sexual abuse material that was linked to a satanic international child sex abuse ring late last year.
The investigation found a Sydney-based alleged pedophile network that possessed, distributed, and facilitated child abuse material with symbols and rituals relating to Satanism. Officers at the time found 33 videos showing sexual abuse and degradation of children on his phone.
According to a report from The Australian, Sendecky was released from jail on Parole in September; a further investigation found 1200 photos and videos of child abuse hidden in a Dropbox folder. He had previously promised to undergo a prison rehabilitation program to try and ensure he does not reoffend.
In 2021, Sendecky pleaded guilty to possessing and controlling child abuse material and faced up to 15 years in prison, though at the time of his first arrest, Masters Swimming Victoria, the team where Sendecky worked as a volunteer coach and marketing director, said that he never worked with anyone 18 and under while with the organization.
Sendecky admitted to police that he began using his phone to download child abuse material within a month of his release. An agreed statement of facts also shows that Sendecky used social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to download the material. However, he was alleged to have taken none of the material found.
A report from News.com.AU said that Sendecky’s reoffending can now be revealed after he pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing child abuse material that was obtained using a carriage service in the Downing Center Local Court in Sydney.
Sendecky is scheduled to appear in the District Court on November 30, where sentencing proceedings are expected to begin. He faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison for the new offense.
