2026 U.S. Short Course World Championship Trials

The heat sheet is out for the final night of the 2026 United States Short Course World Championship Trials, and there are a few major scratches.

Torri Huske, who qualified 4th in the event prelims, has scratched the women’s 100 butterfly final, where she was one of the favorites to make the team. This was her final event of the weekend, which means she will be relying on her Priority 3 selection in the 100 IM to make the team in Beijing.

Currently, seven athletes would need to jump Huske in priority order before she would be left off the roster.

Another big scratch came from Ryan Erisman in the men’s 200 freestyle. He is already on the team for the 800 free, 1500 free, and 400 IM, and the 200 free was his final event of the meet. He finished 2nd in prelims, touching in 1:41.61 to stop the clock about a second behind Luke Hobson‘s U.S. Open record swim of 1:40.51.

The final big scratch of the session came from Rylee Erisman in the women’s 200 backstroke. Erisman finished 5th in prelims behind a stacked 200 backstroke field, and she finished 2nd in the 100 free prelims shortly after. She is still racing the 100 free final tonight, where she will be hoping to earn another individual event after already qualifying in the 200 and 400 freestyles.

Notre Dame’s Lainey Mullins scratched the women’s 400 IM final after qualifying 3rd out of prelims. She is not racing any other events this evening.

Brea Aquatics 15-year-old Adalyn Lee also scratched the women’s 200 backstroke after qualifying 6th out of 6 in prelims. Mullins’ scratch made her the 3rd seed in the 400 IM, which she is still racing.
