Federico Dimarco has insisted Inter Milan are blocking out the noise ahead of Sunday’s Serie A derby against AC Milan, telling Sky Sport Italia that the Nerazzurri are thinking only about themselves and playing a great match.
The Italy wing-back spoke to Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, reacting to Wednesday’s Champions League win over Monaco and looking ahead to the derby.
Milan arrive into the derby having already beaten Inter twice this season – once in Serie A and once in the Supercoppa Italiana – reversing what had been a run of six consecutive Nerazzurri victories in the fixture across multiple competitions. Dimarco acknowledged the unique nature of the match with a measured outlook on the upcoming fixture.
Speaking on the derby, the 27-year-old said it is always a match in its own right, that Inter are simply focused on themselves, and that the objective is to play a great game.
Dimarco Hails Champions League Direct Qualification
Dimarco was equally measured when reflecting on Inter’s direct qualification for the Champions League round of sixteen. He acknowledged that every side Inter have faced in the competition has been strong and created problems, but credited the collective for grinding out the results when it mattered.
He described securing that berth as a big step, and underlined the strength of the group as the decisive factor behind the run.
On Wednesday’s win over Monaco specifically, Dimarco noted that Inter attacked immediately from the off, and that Monaco’s reduction to ten men made things more straightforward – though he was clear that the Nerazzurri played their own game regardless.
