Inter Milan are exploring the possibility of signing Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cristian Romero, with the Argentine reportedly keen on a return to Serie A.
According to Sportitalia journalist Gianluigi Longari, as reported by Tribuna, Inter are already in contact with Romero’s representatives as they assess a potential move. The 28-year-old is understood to have decided to leave Tottenham following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite being under contract until June 2029. Tribuna reported that his decision followed a difficult domestic campaign for Spurs.
Romero has previous experience in Serie A after spells with Genoa, Juventus and Atalanta before his €53.8 million move to Tottenham in 2021. A return to Italy would bring him back to a league in which he previously established himself.
Tottenham Valuation and Salary Expectations Remain Obstacles
Any move would involve significant financial considerations. Tottenham are reportedly seeking around €50 million for Romero, while his salary expectations are also described as a major obstacle as Inter assess the feasibility of a deal.
