Jasmine Paolini has been training with her former coach, Marc Lopez, ahead of the US Open.
The Italian and Spaniard worked together for several months during the 2025 season, where Paolini won the biggest title of her career at the Italian Open.
However, they split after disappointing Grand Slam campaigns in Paris and London, prompting Paolini to hire Danilo Pizzorno as her new coach.

After a tricky 2026 season, Paolini looks to have rehired Lopez, as she aims to make an impression at the US Open.

Paolini posted the following message on her Instagram story.
“We’re back,” she said.
The message accompanied a photo of Lopez giving instructions to Paolini while she watched on.
She also posted a separate video of her training session, hitting forehands and backhands to Lopez.
It’s impossible to predict whether the move will pay off for Paolini, but it certainly felt like something had to change.
The two-time Grand Slam finalist is 16-13 for the season and has dropped to 20th in the ‘Live WTA Rankings’.

She performed far better with Lopez as her coach last year.
Paolini won the Italian Open, her home tournament, with Lopez in her corner, and also reached the semi-finals in Stuttgart and Bad Homburg.

If the 30-year-old can rediscover that form with Lopez back in the fold, she’ll be heading back to the top 10 in no time.
But if this doesn’t work out, you’d have to wonder if Paolini’s time at the top is over.

The Italian will be keen to return to form in New York, but history tells us she could struggle at the US Open.
Paolini has won just 50% of her matches at Flushing Meadows and has yet to reach the quarter-finals.
