Kent all-rounder Joey Evison is to leave the county at the end of the 2026 season to join Sussex on a three-year contract.
The 24-year-old, who was a key part of the Spitfires’ One-Day Cup-winning side in 2022, has signed an all-format deal with Sussex.
He will be reunited with former Kent coach Matt Walker, who takes charge at Hove next season.
“After four good years with Kent, I’m really looking forward to joining up with Sussex,” Evison told Sussex’s website, external.
“I really enjoy playing there and I can’t wait to work with Matt Walker again.”
Evison, who has scored 2,561 runs and taken 92 wickets in 57 first-class matches, has happy memories of Hove having made his maiden first-class hundred at the County Ground back in 2022 while playing for Nottinghamshire.
He also scored the winning runs against Sussex at Hove in last season’s T20 Blast with his unbeaten 48 from 24 balls helping Kent into the knockout stages.
“Joey is someone I’ve followed for a while and this is the perfect time for us to bring him into the club,” said Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace, who will step up to the director of cricket role next season.
“He is a talented all-round cricketer and will make an impact in all forms of the game. Joey has a real desire to improve and works hard to be the best he can be.”
