An interesting addition WWE NXT Wednesday November 4 as John Cena has been confirmed for the show already featuring Cody Rhodes.
With WWE NXT set to air head-to-head against AEW’s special edition of Dynamite Blood and Guts next week, it seems the company is pulling out the big guns.
Cody Rhodes already set to appear
Previously announced to be on hand for the Wednesday night special edition of WWE NXT, Cody Rhodes.
Cody will be on hand to award the winners of this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament their coveted prize – the Dusty Cup.
On the November 4 episode, Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno will take on Hank Walker and Tank Ledger in the Dusty Cup final to determine who take home the tournament victory.
However with tonight’s revelation that John Cena will also be appearing live on NXT TV next week, it could be that there are some interesting new developments ahead.
Why is WWE bringing out Cena twice in one week?
With John Cena set to appear on WWE Raw from Brooklyn, New York on November 2 – there will be plenty for John Cena fans to look forward to next week.
After reports of talent and staff backlash regarding WWE’s decision to seemingly move ahead with plans for Crown Jewel 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 7 – perhaps the timing is to support positive morale both amongst fans and the locker room.
Alternatively, there’s a bit of an AEW incentive for Cena to move the needle with his appearance on the special Wednesday night edition of WWE NXT.
John Cena vs. AEW Blood and Guts
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite isn’t any regular affair, rather a special edition hosting the annual Blood and Guts bouts that have become a fan favorite.
With a similar in-ring set up to WWE’s WarGames, Blood and Guts features two rings surrounded by a steel cage with two teams waging war within the steel.
With AEW World Champion Will Ospreay teaming with AEW Tag Team Champions the Young Bucks, AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin, Adam Copeland and Steven Borden to taking on Kazuchika Okada, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher, Wardlow, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle representing the Don Callis family in the men’s match, there will certainly be no shortage of violence, brutality and likely blood.
More fan vote elements to be revealed?
With speculation that Cena’s WWE Raw appearance is in reference to the previously announced ‘John Cena Classic‘ set to kick off in December 2026 – a crossover with NXT makes total sense.
Since the original description of the Classic involved NXT stars taking on main roster stars in action, perhaps Cena is popping by the Performance Center to recruit the best and brightest for the upcoming tournament.
With the NXT appearance as a vehicle to explain more about the fan voting elements of the tournament – there could be some very fun developments by the end of the show.
