Laura Val Breaks Five Records

The 2026 U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) Summer National Championship took place at the North Natomas Aquatics Complex Aug. 5-9.

There were a record-breaking 1,413 swimmers from seven countries competing at the long course meters event.

Several records were broken. Here is a day-by-day recap of the record-breaking swims.

USMS Day 1

  • Heidi George, UC38: women’s 50-54 400 freestyle — 4:37.27 (AQUA Masters world record and US MS record)
  • Heidi George, UC38: women’s 50-54 800 freestyle — 9:20.71 (AQUA Masters world record and US MS record)
  • Heidi George, UC38: women’s 50-54 1500 freestyle — 17:33.76 (AQUA Masters world record and US MS record)

USMS Day 2

  • Katie Glenn, Rocky Mountain Regional Masters: women’s 50-54 200 breaststroke — 2:52.90 (US MS record)
  • Colette Crabbe, Oregon Masters: women’s 70-74 200 breaststroke — 3:29.57 (US MS record)
  • Laura Val, Tamalpais Aquatic Masters: women’s 75-79 100 backstroke — 1:18.27 (AQUA Masters world record and US MS record)
  • Diann Uustal, Sarasota Sharks Masters: women’s 80-84 100 backstroke — 1:35.01 (AQUA Masters world record and US MS record)
  • Maureen Philipps, Puget Sound Masters: women’s 50-54 100 butterfly — 1:07.37 (AQUA Masters world record and US MS record)

USMS Day 3

  • Katie Glenn, Rocky Mountain Regional Masters: women’s 50-54 50 breaststroke — 34.07 (AQUA Masters world record and USMS record)
  • Colette Crabbe, Oregon Masters: women’s 70-74 50 breaststroke — 42.49 (US MS record)
  • Lincoln Hall, Spartans: men’s 18-24 50 breaststroke — 28.69 (USMS record)
  • David Guthrie, Lone Star Masters: men’s 65-69 50 breaststroke — 32.86 (AQUA Masters world record and US MS record)
  • Laura Val, Tamalpais Aquatic Masters: women’s 75-79 100 freestyle — 1:09.58 (AQUA Masters world record and USMS record)

  • Colette Crabbe, Oregon Masters: women’s 70-74 100 breaststroke — 1:36.54 (US MS record)
