Lucas Bianchi has completed a move from Super Rugby Americas (SRA) to Italy. The Uruguayan flanker will play for Viadana in the Serie A Elite. The Serie A Elite division is the premier rugby division in Italy.

The 25-year-old flanker has been a permanent feature in Los Teros’ teams for a number of years. Bianchi represented Uruguay at the 2023 Rugby World Cup and makes the move to Italy with 29 test caps for Los Teros. He made his debut against Japan in 2022.

Bianchi is now a senior player for Uruguay. This is reflected in his role with Peñarol and the Uruguay XV which has included him captaining the team from his regular position of flanker.

Now, in just under one year before Rugby World Cup 2027 starts, Bianchi has secured his playing future in Italy. His move follows other Peñarol players as Uruguayans are obtaining contracts in the key European season before Australia 2027.
