Michigan Earns 2028 Verbal From Minnesota State Champion Bobbi Simmons

NEW COMMIT: The University of Michigan has added a new verbal commitment for its incoming class for the 2028-29 season from Bobbi Simmons of Minneapolis, Minn. Simmons is a Junior National qualifier who excels in sprint free, back and fly.

She will join Yari Brock, Elsa Anderson and Feagin Kaminski in Ann Arbor as a member of the Wolverines’ Class of 2032.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Michigan! A huge thank you to my family and friends for their constant love and support. I would not be where I am today without such amazing role models and teammates beside me. I’m so grateful for Coach Kate, Coach Gio, and all of the Aquajets coaching staff for helping me develop such a love for this sport. I would like to thank Coach Matt, Coach Jared, and the entire Michigan coaching staff for giving me this incredible opportunity! Most importantly, I would like to thank the Lord for his guidance and faithfulness throughout this journey. I cannot wait to be a Wolverine! GO BLUE!! 〽️〽️〽️”

Simmons, who does her club swimming with Aquajets Swim Team, earned three best times at Junior Nationals this past summer after finaling in three events at Westmont Speedo Sectionals. Last winter, she placed 24th in the 100 fly at Juniors West before going on to record three top-10 finishes at NCSA Spring Championships, highlighted by a pair of fifth-place showings in the 100 fly and 200 IM.

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 24.56
  • 100 fly – 53.34
  • 200 IM – 2:00.52
  • 50 back – 25.46

  • 200 back – 1:57.33

Currently a junior at Edina High School, Simmons earned gold in the 100 back and silver in the 200 IM at the 2025 Minnesota Class AA State Championships. She has earned NISCA All-American honors.

Michigan won the 2026 Big Ten Championships, its first conference title since 2018 and its 18th conference crown all-time. The Wolverines then finished sixth at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
