Milou van Wijk and Sean Niewold each clinched the sprint freestyle double with championship records in the 50 as the Dutch Qualifiers wrapped up in Rotterdam.

Van Wijk added the 50 title to her 100 crown in 23.34, a championship record and well within the cut for December’s short-course worlds in Beijing. She led home a further three women who were inside the QT with Valerie van Roon clocking 23.85 followed by Maaike de Waard (24.30) and Megan Jonkman (24.32).

Van Wijk will join Marrit Steenbergen who’d already booked a spot in the 50 free at the World Cup.

Niewold followed up his Dutch 100 free record with two championship marks in the 50. The double European relay silver medallist went 46.36 in Saturday’s B-final after he finished 11th in prelims.

There was no repeat on Sunday when he lowered the championship record over two lengths to 20.89. He then returned in the evening to cut 0.01 for his second mark of the day having already qualified for the World Championships thanks to his performances at the World Cup.

Femke Spiering booked a 100 fly ticket for Beijing in 57.40.

Tatjana Smith of South Africa clinched a clean sweep of the breaststroke titles with a 29.54 CR win in the 50 as she continues her return from retirement. Sterre Hendriks was the first Dutchwoman home but her time of 30.23 was 0.02 outside the cut.

Marte Hieke van der Kamp headed the 800 free in 8:28.29 for a third crown following the 1500 and 400IM. Eszter Szabo-Feltothy of Hungary won the 200 back in 2:07.22 with Fay Boxum the first home swimmer to touch in 2:09.07.

Luca Janssen won the men’s 100 breaststroke (58.06) and Youri Voet took the 400IM in 4:19.98 with Michael Smink the first Dutchman home in the 100 fly in 51.90 behind Belgian Daniel Laureyssens (51.82).
