Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

North Carolina high school state finalist Grant Larsen has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at the United States Air Force Academy beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:

After a lot of thought, I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and athletic career at the United States Air Force Academy! First, I would like to thank my family for making all of this possible, as well as my friends and Coaches Bruce, JP, Matt, and Blake for helping me grow as both an athlete and a person. I would like to give a special thanks to Coach Alan and Serge for always believing in me. I’d also like to thank Coach Clayton and Coach Doak at USAFA for giving me this awesome opportunity! GO FALCONS!

A senior at Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, North Carolina, Larsen has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with the TAC Titans, where he primarily specializes in sprint freestyle and butterfly.

Larsen is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw him drop nearly two and a half seconds in the 200 free, about a second and a half in the 100 fly, and about a half second in both the 50 and 100 free. He set his current personal bests at the Speedo Sectionals in Cary in March, placing seventh in the 50 free (20.65), eighth in the 100 free (45.41) and 100 fly (50.35) and 13th in the 200 free (1:39.96), after swimming lifetime bests of 20.57, 45.37 and 49.90 in prelims of the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly.

On the high school scene, Larsen finished fourth in the 50 free (21.26) and fifth in the 100 free (46.95) at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 8A State Championships in February. It was his second straight year placing fourth in the 50 and his first time making the ‘A’ final in the 100.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 Freestyle: 20.57
  • 100 Freestyle: 45.37
  • 200 Freestyle: 1:39.96
  • 100 Butterfly: 49.90

A Division I program, Air Force competes in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), with the men’s team beating out UNLV by 50 points to win the team title this past season. Larsen’s best 200 free would have made the ‘B’ final at the 2026 MPSF Championships, while his best times in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly would have made the ‘C’ finals. That sets him up to contribute right away, with nearly two seasons of training still ahead before he even lines up at his first conference meet.

Larsen joins Sam Fields, Kevin Foley, Drew Hopkins, Jacob Lee, Ethan Meeker, Dylan Patterson, John Prudhomme, and Charlie Wang in committing to Air Force’s class of 2031 so far.
