Real Madrid v Inter Milan: Commentary, updates, goals and stats

Real Madrid will look to bounce back from Friday night’s shock defeat at Real Betis when they take on Inter Milan in their Champions League opener tonight.

Jose Mourinho will come up against his former club for the first time in the competition, 16 years after guiding Inter to European glory.

Madrid have won 17 of their last 19 Champions League opening matches, including each of their last five.

Inter will provide a significant test, though, with the Italian side arriving in Madrid having made a perfect start to their Serie A title defence.

Cristian Chivu’s side have won all three of their league matches, beating Monza and Cagliari before producing a big win against Napoli last weekend.

However, they have lost their last four encounters with Los Blancos and have failed to score in each of the last three.
