Robert Lewandowski has this week sent a message the way of former employers Barcelona, regarding the club’s ongoing pursuit of European glory.
Frontman Lewandowski of course brought a close to his four-year stint in Blaugrana colours earlier this summer, following the expiration of his contract terms.
Across his spell in Catalunya’s capital, the veteran goalscorer racked up three La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey, and a trio of Spanish Super Cups.
On the continent, however, Lewandowski and his teammates came up short time and again. This means that, all told, Barcelona have not lifted the Champions League since all the way back in 2015.
Speaking during an interview with Diario AS this week, the Pole was therefore drawn on the hopes of Hansi Flick’s squad in Europe this coming season. And Lewandowski made use of the opportunity to explain:
“The Champions League is a dream for Barça. This season could be different from the previous one. Barça has a lot of quality players, as well as new signings. I hope they’ll try to win the Champions League and be able to celebrate it.”
