Inter have informed Luis Henrique he is free to leave this summer, with Roma closing in on a deal worth just under €30m, though the Brazilian winger remains unconvinced by the move to the Stadio Olimpico.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri informed the 24-year-old this evening that he is on the transfer market. Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his Italian-language YouTube channel, added that Luis Henrique still needs convincing over the switch, with significant salary demands that Roma are reportedly unwilling to meet in full.
The move fits into a broader squad clearout at Inter, who need to raise funds to complete incoming deals for Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur (€31.5m plus add-ons, rising to €35m) and Curtis Jones from Liverpool for over €35m. Spence is expected in Milan on Thursday to begin his medical and sign his contract.
Frattesi Departure Shows the Pattern
The first step in reducing the squad has already been taken, with Davide Frattesi’s loan to Lazio agreed for €1m plus an obligation to buy at €14m under certain conditions. That structure only covers half of Inter’s stated €30m valuation, since the club retain 50 per cent of any future resale fee.
Inter’s efforts to reduce the squad come as Roma pursue a deal for Luis Henrique. The clubs appear ready to shake hands on a fee close to €30m, but the player’s hesitation over personal terms means the deal is not yet done.
Whether Luis Henrique accepts a switch just a year after arriving at San Siro now depends on Roma bridging the gap on his salary demands.
