Roman Reigns Explains Why He Doesn’t Have Many Friends Backstage In WWE
WWE
Roman Reigns has explained why he doesn’t have many friends in WWE, says he stopped being ‘one of the boys’ after Tribal Chief switch.
Over the past six years, Roman Reigns has ascended to become arguably the biggest star in WWE as the Tribal Chief, with him holding the Universal Championship for 1316 days from 2020 until WrestleMania 40.
Roman has surrounded himself with his family in the Bloodline during that time, with him not having very many friends outside of his family on screen.
Speaking to Nightcap, Roman was asked if there were any WWE stars he doesn’t like backstage.
Roman said that he doesn’t really have any friends backstage in the company outside of his family, and that he chose to stop being ‘one of the boys’ after he returned as the Tribal Chief in 2020.
He said:
“It’s weird because years ago it was a different story, I’m in a different place. It’s a locker room, there is a camaraderie, it is a show and we are all working together, so there is that friendship, in the business we call it being one of the boys, being the boys.
“Early on, you could easily say that’s exactly what I was, but there was around a time when I kind of transformed into the Tribal Chief around COVID, when I came back I had to make a choice of do I want to be one of the boys or do I want to be responsible for the championships? Do I want to pull the wagon? Do I want to make this business better? Do I want to advance the industry? And I had to make that choice.
“I’ll cleanly say now that I don’t really have many friends anymore, I mean I have my family, I got my blood, and that’s real. We’re not a faction, we’re a family. People wondering how long this is gonna go on for? Ever. Until I’m gone.
“I’m not in the friend business, we’re in the conflict business, we’re here to sell tickets to get y’all to see us go at it. I mean I’m a businessman and I’m cordial with the locker room, but I’m not really trying to hang out with anybody.”
