The qualifying process to make Luke Donald’s 2027 European Ryder Cup team will start at the British Masters later this month.

The August 27-30 tournament, which is being staged at The Belfry and is hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, will be the first event over the next year at which eligible DP World Tour members can earn Ryder Cup points in the race to make the cut to play at Adare Manor in Ireland next September.

As ever, the six leading players from the Ryder Cup points list will earn automatic places on Team Europe. That qualifying process ends on Sunday August 22, 2027.

Donald will then complete his latest 12-player line-up with six ‘Captain’s Picks’, which he will make in the week commencing August 30 2027.

The 2027 Ryder Cup takes place at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland on September 17-19, 2027 when the Donald-captained European side will bid for three wins in a row.

Donald, who will be the first golfer since Bernard Gallacher to skipper in three consecutive Ryder Cups, said: “The start of qualification is always a notable milestone in the Ryder Cup journey, so I am delighted to today confirm details of our process for the 2027 European Team.

“We have a lot of talented European players at the moment, some with Ryder Cup experience and others who will be trying to qualify for the first time.

“I am therefore really looking forward to seeing them compete to qualify for Team Europe over the next 12 months.

“Next year’s Ryder Cup at Adare Manor promises to be very special for so many different reasons. It will be the 100-year anniversary of the Ryder Cup and we will have the support of the Irish crowds, who are among the best in the world.

Luke Donald expresses his gratitude to his fans, family and team-mates after being recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours list with an OBE for his recent success with Team Europe at the Ryder Cup.

“Those factors will only add to the motivation of our European players to ensure they are part of it.”
