On tonight’s ‘Very Nice, Very Evil’ episode of WWE SmackDown, the main event saw Sami Zayn defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Trick Williams.
Sami ended up retaining the title after it was initially thrown out with a disqualification after Johnny Gargano got involved, with Sami defeating Trick in a No Disqualification match.
With Sami retaining the title against Trick, here are some names we could see unseat the Last Real Good Guy for the title.
Randy Orton
At WWE Crown Jewel, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes are set to face off against each other in a Last Man Standing match to bring an end to their rivalry.
On tonight’s SmackDown, Cody noted that it will likely be whoever wins the match between them that is next in line to challenge for the WWE Championship.
Randy has been chasing his 15th World Championship since the beginning of the year, and if he comes out on top at Crown Jewel, he could finally get that title coming out of the show.
Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens was added to Sami Zayn’s Number One Contender’s match at SummerSlam
After making his return to WWE after 18 months away at SummerSlam, Kevin Owens has also been chasing the WWE Championship.
While he is currently sidetracked with a rivalry with CM Punk, they are set to face off on next week’s episode of SmackDown ahead of Crown Jewel.
With Sami winning two WWE Championships this year makes it feel more likely that Owens could finally once again become World Champion after a decade.
Sami and Kevin facing off for the title at WrestleMania would make for a great match and moment for both men.
Penta
After winning the Money In The Bank briefcase, Penta has already made his presence felt to both Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.
However, despite Penta and Roman having their recent match in Mexico City, it will almost certainly be Oba Femi that dethrones him to become champion at WrestleMania next year in Riyadh.
Even following WrestleMania, WWE likely won’t take the title off Oba so soon after winning it.
As such, it will likely be the Undisputed WWE Championship that Penta cashes in on, which means that whoever the champion is on Friday Nights should be looking over their shoulder.
