It was a hard-fought win for the Mustang women of SMU on the road against in-conference and state opponents TCU, as the meet came down to a 1-2 relay finish for SMU to seal the win by only 10 points.
SMU earned the win with eight event wins; of those, Dori Hathazi and Maddy Parker each accounted for two. Hathazi swept the butterfly races, touching 54.29 and 1:56.89, respectively. Parker was the sprint free ace for SMU, clinching wins in both the 50 free and 100 free, clocking 22.63 and 49.45.
SMU secured another sprint free win with Chloe Douglas-Byrne, who led a 1-2 finish with teammate Summer Osborne in 1:47.92; Osborne was just a hair behind in 1:48.22.
Amma Bibza also got in on the winning for SMU, claiming the 400 IM with a near full-second win in 4:20.25.
The relays were valuable points for SMU, opening the meet with a near two-second win in the 400 medley relay as Emma Hagberg, Anna Bonecka, Hathazi, and Parker combined in 3:38.14.
The meet came down to the 200 free relay, as SMU needed a big performance to seal the win after trailing by three points. Thanks to a big 1-2 finish, led by Parker, Chloe Corbin, Osborne, and Douglas-Byrne in 1:30.03, the Mustangs earned 15 meet-shifting points to land a 10-point win.
TCU still delivered several impressive swims, most notably from Avery Dillon, who notched a new school record in the 1000 free victory in 9:49.34. Dillon later notched the 500 free win in 4:49.83.
The Horned Frogs picked up back-to-back event wins from Audrey Worgull in the 100 back (55.13) and Nina Vadovicova in the 100 breast just minutes later (1:00.98). Worgull also picked up a very tight win in the 200 back over Tessa Christianson of SMU by 14 one-hundredths of a second in 1:58.36. That would once again lead to back-to-back event wins along with Vadovicova, this time in the 200 breast, touching in 2:11.17.
Odessa Kack also delivered a win for TCU on the 3-meter board, posting the only 300-point score in 301.05. Later in the meet, Amma Larcada Herrera led TCU in a 1-2-3 finish on the 1-meter board, scoring 275.10.
